My approach is eclectic. I utilize a variety of techniques from a number
of approaches (especially cognitive-behavioral, dynamic and systems) in which I have extensive
training and experience. I focus on the "here and now" as well as explore how patterns of behavior have been
learned and may be unlearned.
Getting started is often the hardest part. Your
first phone call to me will be a brief talk to clarify your issues to be assessed in the first visit. A comprehensive
assessment is always the initial component to our work together. During our first meeting, I will take a thorough history
to better understand you as an individual. Social history, history of previous treatment attempts, and exploration of
current therapeutic goals will also be part of the first visit. You will have time to express all your concerns without
a feeling of time pressure.
